The Three Peaks Challenge

The Three Peaks Challenge · 10 June 2017
All of us are keen mountaineers, but it wasn't until mid 2016 that we really started to consider The Three Peaks Challenge. Twenty four hours to summit the highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales. Instantly, the adventurous side of ourselves were hooked. Having already climbed several mountains between ourselves and having many miles of trekking under our belts, we knew this challenge was for us.
One relative novice to the mountaineering game, two brothers from Cumbria and a Swiss boy are the star studded team. Caleb and Ethan (the twins) had previous experience with not one but all three of the legendary summits and it goes without saying that Swiss Michael was no stranger to the odd scramble. Out of nowhere, Michael had booked his plane tickets and we found the English contingent thrust into a strict training regime involving runs and hill climbs to build up fitness and stamina.
Throughout this time, the news was crammed with emotionally charged horror stories of the atrocities being carried out in the Syrian Civil War. We knew we had to do something to help. We saw an opportunity to make a difference and we took it.
462 miles of driving, 44 kilometres of walking and 10000 feet of ascent seems rather daunting, however we are confident that the training and the thought of the people who we can help will drive us to success in our challenge to stand on the highest summits of England, Scotland and Wales in a single day.
