ETON IS ROWING TO UKRAINE
After an accident, one of our Colts rowers, Walter Montagu, spent a year in an Ilizarov frame - a brilliant device invented on the Ukrainian border to repair shattered bones.
Appalled by the injuries inflicted on innocent children in Ukraine and memories of his own recovery, Walter and his friends have organised a sponsored row - on a big scale - to support Save The Children’s work in Ukraine.
Turning a negative into a positive…
…on 14 June 2022, Eton’s entire rowing squad - upto 150 rowers - will take to Dorney Lake in Ukrainian national rowing suits and attempt to ‘Row to Ukraine’ - a distance of 2,000km.
Walter was lucky. With the best doctors operating in peacetime, he has recovered well. The outlook for the children in Ukraine is very different. Surgeons are performing life-changing operations in a war zone often without the right equipment and medicine.
Ukraine’s children desperately need your help. Please give generously if you can.
Eton Action is Eton College’s UK registered charity (No. 257247) who will forward donations to Save The Children without charge. This event has been generously supported by Henley Royal Regatta, Nando’s, RS, Hampshire Flag and Eton Rowing.
