We have one clear aim: to End Duchenne

Story

2020 marks the 8th year of the Duchenne Dash, a 300km-in-24hrs bike ride to raise money for Duchenne UK. Well, it should've been the 8th year, but COVID-19 said no. The event normally takes 150+ riders from London to Paris but the coronavirus pandemic meant that their biggest fundraiser event would not happen.

Having ridden all the other editions apart from last year's, I felt the need to help out however I could.
This is why I will ride the 300km in 24 hours. I will do this by riding 8 different courses from my house in Canterbury in Kent, to celebrate every event since it started in 2013. Therefore, I will be wearing 8 different shirts, one from each year, and each course length is the equivalent of each of the 8 stages during an event.

Duchenne UK is a highly focused, ambitious and lean charity with a clear vision: to fund and accelerate treatments and a cure for Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). DMD is a devastating muscle-wasting disease and is the most common genetic killer of children worldwide. There is no treatment or cure. Children will be totally paralysed by their teens and won’t live beyond their 20s. But thanks to recent breakthroughs, we believe we can save them. We aim to eradicate it in 10 years: TO END DUCHENNE IN TEN. www.duchenneuk.org

As the leading Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) charity in the UK, we want to find effective treatments for DMD and end its devastating impact. We’re going further than anyone has before, and we’re doing it faster, because this generation of people living with DMD can’t wait.
