Story

It is estimated that 52% of the world’s turtles have eaten plastic waste. It is easy to understand why – how can a turtle tell the difference between a floating plastic bag and a jellyfish? The turtle, one of the world’s most ancient animals, is at severe danger from us humans, and our obsession with plastic. As a result of the pandemic, the disposable mask has become a new threat to the species, both a choking and tangling hazard.

I have been creating turtles using disposable masks I have found around my local area. Each mask was quarantined for several weeks, and thoroughly washed and disinfected to make them safe.

If you would like to donate what you can to this page, I will gift you one of my turtles. Please contact my email address - farrahnicholson99@gmail.com, so I can arrange it. Thank you.
