We fund long-term, sustainable research to find a cure for brain tumours

Story

In April 2021 my Dad was finding it difficult to finish his sentences and seemed to lose his words mid way through a sentence.  I took him to A&E thinking he might have had a small stroke.  Little did I know that on that day my world and my families world would come crashing down with the results of the CT scan stating he had a brain tumour.

By the end of June 2021 he had had two biopsies on his brain and we were informed it was Glioblastoma grade 4 wild type, very aggressive brain cancer, inoperable due to its location and only radiation and chemo along side strong steroids of Dexamethasone as treatment options.  It wasn't until my dad finished the radiotherapy treatment were we informed that his tumour was resistant to this radiotherapy and chemo, by this time, nearly the end of Sept 2021, my Dad was extremely fatigue and swollen.  Any hope of him being able to enjoy remaining time he had left were depleted because he simply was too tired for anything, as well as depressed.

In Nov 2021 he was admitted to hospital again with blood clots in his lungs (possible from the side effects of the steroids) and then we were told that he was end of life.  We managed to get my dad home because his wish was to pass at home.  I gave up work and between myself and my mum we cared for and stayed and loved my dad until he died on the 14th Jan 2022.

I am fundraising because this was the most harrowing experience of my life and to imaging the fact that many others are going through this now and will go through this in the future makes me feel extremely sad.  If I can help raise money so that a cure may be found in the near future to prevent just one person and family experiencing what mine has it will be worth it.

Please can you help me. Faye x
