Story

Thank you for visiting to support us in our successful completion of the Outlaw Nottingham Ironman Triathlon on Sunday 24th July 2022.  This punishing event based around the National Watersports Centre  involves a 2.4 mile (3.8km) swim, 112 mile (180km) bike ride and finishes with a marathon run of 26.2 miles (42km). We trained hard and battled through the COVID19 pandemic and Felix's severe perineal injury in 2021 to get this far. Fortunately we have both been well this year and ensured close attention was paid to our wellbeing during training and the event.

Your support to help us get through has been greatly appreciated.  We're raising money for the Disasters Emergency Committee Ukraine Humanitarian Fund. The people of Ukraine are having a terrible terrible time in the face of Russian aggression and we want to help in any way we can.  Your support and enthusiasm directly helps the Ironpeople of Ukraine during ongoing conflict which is threatening the lives and livelihoods of civilians across the country, causing millions to flee. Homes have been destroyed. Essential services have been hit. Families have been separated. People have been injured. Lives have been lost.

DEC charities and their local partners are in Ukraine and across the border in the neighbouring countries. They are working to meet the immediate needs of all people fleeing with food, water, medical assistance, protection and trauma care.  £30 could provide essential hygiene supplies for three people for one month,  £50 could provide blankets for 4 families to keep them warm,  £100 could provide emergency food for two families for one month.

Update from 24th July: Success!! We both finished the race!! 03:30 fuelling for 06:00 start has made for a long day! Fantastic swimming in the rowing lake though slightly intimidating to look at... Very windy ride and several laps run into Nottingham, round the white water rafting course and the lake to finish. Jim was mega speedy, 10 hours 18 mins coming 44/900 overall and 4th in his age group. I was a bit slower but delighted to finish in 12 hours 50 mins. We celebrated with 🍕🍕🍕! Thanks again for all your fantastic support which goes to an excellent cause, 🥰🥰 This page will remain open for donations for the next month in case you haven't yet had a chance and would like to support us.
