Heart n Soul is a wonderful creative arts company and charity; running has been a hugely important part of my life for 20 years; and this year has brought into relief the importance of social bonds and the collective. 

My dear friend Craig Clark, communications and digital officer at Heart n Soul, asked me a few weeks ago if I knew anyone that might be interested in doing a sponsored run or something but the dearth of races in 2020 meant I was unable to suggest anything. Except: why shouldn't I make up some quixotic project of my own in support of an organisation that I love?

50 Days of Summer will start on 2 August. Every day will have a different run, each inspired by someone different, each accompanied by some writing that explains why that run happened and how it all went down.

I'll put my heart and soul into the running and the online embellishments and try to entertain and inform a little.
