We Raise funds for children with cancer to Help families during treatment

Story

On the 5th October I’m going to Nepal to attempt Mera Peak, it is the highest non technical trekking peak in the world and the trek will take us 18 days, we summit on day 12 after a night at base camp 5300 mtrs, a night at high camp 5780 mtrs we will get up at around midnight and set off for the summit.

We have planned the trip over the last 18 months... and despite my knee operation, hopefully we’ve done enough

I have decided it’s such a massive trek and achievement that I need to try and raise some money for charity and my chosen charity is Henry Dancer Days..

I have chosen this charity because i knew Henry personally, he was the sweetest, funniest and gorgeous little boy, he had the most beautiful blue eyes and was always smiling... At aged 11, just after starting secondary school he had a pain in his leg, his Mam took him to the local GP who immediately sent him for further tests... Henry had Osteosarcoma, a cancer of the bone in his leg. The disease had already spread to his lungs and he never walked again. He underwent the most awful treatment including amputation of his leg whilst his surgeon tried to cut out the cancer... Henry never complained, he got on with it.... he died within a year...

One of the things Jane his mam realised was how difficult it was to take Henry out whilst he was ill, so in his memory she set up a charity in his name, the charity was to try and bring some sunshine and laughter into other children who have to undergo treatment

Please read the website and his Mams words and anything you can give will be massively appreciated

We support children and families in two ways: 1. Offering hardship support during treatment for Primary Bone Cancer 2. Delivering distraction projects in UK hospitals for children with all forms of cancer. We do this through Storytelling and Pottery workshops which improve mental health.
