Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) - which in major crises brings together 14 leading UK aid charities to raise money to help save lives and rebuild shattered communities - is appealing for funds. The eight-year conflict in Ukraine has dramatically escalated. Heavy fighting, shelling and air strikes across Ukraine have had devastating consequences for the population with people forced to flee their homes to escape the violence.

£30 could provide essential hygiene supplies for three people for one month

£100 could provide emergency food for two families for one month
