I didn’t know that my mam had been diagnosed with dementia until I got to see her medical records after she died.  She never got to the stage where she didn’t know who I was, or other members of my family. Whenever I visited her she would always tell carers that I was her eldest daughter.  I was fortunate not to see her completely forget who we all were, not everyone can say the same about this cruel disease.
