Story
In August this year an intrepid group of cyclists, including
one of our trustees, is setting of on a 4 day challenge of riding from Bury St Edmunds to Disneyland Paris to coincide with our annual adventure. The group of 5 riders will be setting off from Bury St Edmunds on Saturday 18th August and heading through the Suffolk and Essex countryside towards London. An overnight stop near Tower Bridge will be followed on the Sunday by riding out of London southwards towards
Newhaven. This means a nice bit of hilly countryside over the South Downs (that’s going to hurt!!) and into Newhaven to catch the ferry to Dieppe.
After a long soak and a good nights sleep the group will head of eastwards towards Chantilly for the last overnight stop. Finally on the last day they will head around the north of Paris and drop down to Disneyland Paris with the intention to arrive at the same time as the main group for a quick photo shoot and a well earned beverage!!!
The total distance will be around 400 miles (dependant on
routes) and will be completed in 4 gruelling days. To make it worse our Trustee, Nick, will then have to push his son William around the park in his wheelchair for the next 3 days!!
How can you help – well in two ways. Firstly by sponsoring and helping to get others to sponsor them on the ride. The
target is for the group to raise £5000 which will fund 25% of next years Disney trip. Secondly by helping to find us some corporate sponsorship to help fund the ride. We need to raise around £2500 to cover the
costs of hotel, food, ferry and the all important support vehicle so any help is gratefully received. This doesn’t have to be in the form of money donations but could, for example, be the use of your company van for the support vehicle or some supermarket vouchers for buying supplies.
Please help us by spreading the word of this mad cap cycling
adventure and, as the ride name says, help us with the Hard Miles for Happy Smiles.
