Supporting Ronald McDonald House Charity

Last year my youngest daughter Emma spent 8 months in a very critical condition at The Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow. You can imagine it was an extremely daunting and worrying time for her mother, me and all her family. Thankfully, Emma came through this although she is still very unstable. 

During this time we were able to stay overnight at the Ronald McDonald House only a few minutes’ walk away from the ward.  This meant we could be near Emma every day and gave us peace of mind and allowed us to rest after an exhausting day in hospital. 

The Ronald McDonald House provides free 'home away from home' accommodation for families with children in intensive care. The facility is run on charitable donations.

I cannot express how amazing this facility was to us and how worthy a cause it is.

In a small way to help with the fund raising this facility so badly needs to survive, I will be doing a sponsored run around the island of Arran on the 7th April 2018. My plan is to use the coastal paths, public road and run over some of the islands highest hills surrounding Glen Sannox and Glen Rosa to complete a loop of the island starting and finishing in Brodick. 

l will be running in a relay with my running buddy Edel Mooney. We will cover over 100km and our goal is to complete this in under 24hours. 

We would be so grateful if you could give whatever money you can spare to this amazing charity. Quite simply had it not been available to us, I don’t know how we would have coped both emotionally and financially.  This facility continues to help others in the same situation and give parents help and support while their very sick child is in hospital. Given Emma's unstable condition we are likely to need Ronald McDonald House in the future.
