Story
Three years ago i had hit rock bottom and had to accept my problem, i had to drop my ego and ask for help, so i reached out to someone who had been actively promoting mental health online who then referred me onto Chris's house, a 24 hour, non-medical crisis centre who offered me tremendous support and the first of it's kind in scotland ..
There i learned about my addiction and decided to make changes in my life after finding hope and taking inspiration from Anne Rowan, a mother from Wishaw with a passionate vision for a crisis centre established in memory of her son Chris, whom she lost to suicide at the age of 36 in 2011 ..
I engaged in weekly meetings with ex Scotland international footballer Andrew Mclaren and got support through counselling and hypnotherapy and then committed to changes including meditation and daily gratitude practices, breathing techniques and the Wim hof method ..
It allowed me to take responsibility for my own personal development and have since studied property investing before entering into a mentorship programme with Paul McFadden Wealth starting up my own property investing company alongside my brother with zero funds and the help of others in the industry ..
Despite the work i have done on myself mentally and spiritually and being 17 months free of substance, i knew there was a piece of me still missing and after i failed to run a mile when challenged to a 10k back in January i knew it was my physical health that was out of sync, so i embarked on a new journey that would help Re-align my body, mind and spirit that would allow me to present my best self to the world again ..
I've been working with a personal trainer for the past 6 months to help get me back in shape and that has allowed me to start running again, so i can now look forward to this years Yorkshire Tough Mudder on the 30th July and Manchester's half marathon on the 10th of October and would really appreciate any support you can give to help me raise funds and awareness for this wonderful charity ..
I have a lot of hard work ahead but my plan is to to try and help others by promoting mental health, sharing hope and documenting my journey in the process, but firstly I'd like to give a little something back to a place were it all started, a place called Chris's House.
Thanks for all your kind words and donations .. 🤍🙏
