7 SEPTEMBER UPDATE: 40 runs complete! Still got 27km to make the 350km target so will need to do 2 more runs before Sunday.

9 AUGUST UPDATE: I’ve completed the 175km from York to Crewe in 24 runs, just turned straight round and am 1km into the run back to York. Not sure I’ll be able to complete the remaining 174km in 16 runs, going to try to do it in 21 runs - that would result in 350km in 45 runs overall.

25TH JULY UPDATE: 100km complete in 14 runs, need to pick up the distance a little but a solid start.

5TH JULY UPDATE: After the first week, I’ve decided to make it a bigger challenge - instead of just running the 175km to Crewe, I’m now hoping to run all the way back to York too which will be a total of 350km.

27th June 2020 - With all of my planned runs having been cancelled, I have decided to take part in the Great North Run Solo Challenge in memory of my little brother Matthew.

I will be raising funds for Muscular Dystrophy UK who estimate a shortfall in income of nearly 3 million pounds due to coronavirus and so need our support now more than ever.

The Great North Run Solo Challenge starts on Sunday 28th June (the birthday of the Great North Run) and runs until Sunday 13th September - the day the 40th Great North Run was scheduled to take place. The challenge is to complete 40 runs over the 78 days, a run for each year of the Great North Run. I will end the challenge by running the Virtual Great North Run on Sunday 13th September.

I am aiming to run a total of 175km during the challenge - the distance between York and my hometown of Crewe.
