Story

The whole school community will be united behind one goal, as we launch ‘Georgians Move Together’, this is a physical challenge to encourage all members of St George’s to participate in additional exercise, so important in maintaining positive physical and mental health.

What is Georgians Move Together?

  • It’s a community wide challenge, for us to collectively move the distance to Serenje, in Zambia. We have chosen this target as this is where the ZOA Children's Home (SOCH) is based.

  • This is a race between adults (parents and staff) and pupils. Who will be the first to arrive?

  • This is a House Event, with the House that has logged the most kilometres winning. This event is running across all three schools.

Why take part?

  • Regular exercise is proven to benefit both mental and physical health.

  • Good opportunity for families to complete an activity together.

  • To be part of a community effort with everyone working together towards the same goal.

  • To support those less fortunate. You can get sponsored for this challenge and all money will be split between ZOA (50%) and two local Italian charities (JNRC (25%) and Sant’Edigio (25%)).

What are the rules of Geogians Move Together?

1. You can log any activity where the distance moved can be measured (walk, cycle, run, row, Junior School challenges).

2. The activity should be in addition to normal daily movement (no steps count for the day)

3. You must be moving under your own power (no horse riding or motorised transport).

4. One entry/log per person per day.

5. Please enter your House (if you are a parent you can use your child's House).

About the charity

SOA raises awareness and funds to support SOCH ('Serenje Outreach for Childrens Help') so that SOCH may provide care and educational opportunities for disadvantaged children (vulnerables, street kids, children with disabilities). Creating self-sustainability for SOCH is now a key target for SOA.
