Story
My first (and last) 10k run was 5 years ago in Wigan supporting Derian House. At that time my beautiful son Sebastian was approaching three years old and was a fun-loving cheeky boy that attended nursery school.
Unfortunately, I knew that there would come a time when this wouldn't be the case. Sebastian was diagnosed with a life-limiting genetic condition one week before his first birthday and in the years to follow his progressive disorder led to a series of complex disabilities and much time spent in hospitals and medical appointments.
As a single working mum, Derian House helped to support us with much needed respite and also enjoyable times where Sebastian and I could make happy memories using their excellent facilities.
In December 2016, two months after his sixth birthday, Sebastian passed away suddenly. At this time Derian House supported his heartbroken family and enabled us to spend time with Sebastian to say goodbye. They provide much needed bereavement support to families that have lost a child.
Any donation, no matter how small, will be gratefully received in memory of Sebastian and to support the work of Derian House for other families taking care of their poorly children and enduring the biggest of challenges that life can throw at you.
