Story

UPDATED 18/12/10

Thanks for visiting our JustGiving page which aims to make a valuable contribution to the Babies In Buscot Support charity.

Eli has reached his 9th week now and has more than doubled his birth weight with a respectable 3 lb 12oz. To mum and dad he's getting huge and if you look through the photos you'll get an idea of why. Born at just 1 lb 11 oz he's made massive progress.

Considering he should still be inside mum it's simply amazing that he's breathing by himself, crying when he's hungry, attempting breast feeding, digesting food, filling nappies and sticking fingers up his nose. All of which wouldn't be possible without the meticulous care and support he has received (and still is!) on Buscot Ward.

Funding for vital equipment is scarce and BIBS seeks to support the Special Care Baby Unit at the Royal Berkshire Hospital by raising much needed funds for new technology and equipment.

They also aim to support to the parents of those babies requiring special care at Buscot through a difficult and often harrowing time.

Please find just a few pounds to help the premature babies and their families who need support every year.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.

Thank you so much

Ade, Katha and little (but getting bigger) Eli xx

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Our baby boy Eli was born 13 weeks early meaning he was classed as 'extremely premature' at just 27 weeks gestation.

This has meant that since his birth he has been cared for 24/7 and required an array of treatment and fancy machines to help him grow stronger and stay healthy. We've needed a fair bit of support and reassurance from time to time as well.

The amazing staff of Buscot Ward at the Royal Berkshire Hospital have been unbelievably supportive, patient and caring with all three of us. We can't really thank them enough but we'd like to try as much as possible. Any money donated to 'BIBS' will help buy life saving/improving equipment and improve the condition of the ward for parents who spend long hours there.

We know there's a recession, we know it's almost Christmas but please find a couple of pounds to help the thousands of premature babies and their families who need support every year.
