Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Those of you who know me well will be very aware that I am no runner! You are probably surprised to hear therefore that I have set myself the tough challenge to complete the London Marathon in 2018 in memory of my beautiful eldest daughter Laura Daisy Walker who died at St Richards Hospice a few minutes into Boxing Day 2016.
Laura tried so hard to fight what was a late diagnosis of an aggressive cervical cancer and had a tough year facing chemotherapy, radiotherapy and extensive surgery over12 difficult months with great courage, strength and grace.
Her admission to St Richards in September 2016 was not welcomed by Laura initially as she was angry and reluctant to be admitted despite her pain and symptoms being overwhelming at that time. Once in the care of the team - and within hours of her arrival - she knew it was the right place for her. From then until she lost her fight we were all - her husband, her sister, her dad and I, the extended family and her friends - loved, cared for and supported by the whole St Richards team. They are an exceptional group of people and made the most difficult time of our lives that little bit easier.
As a family we will always support St Richards as they must be able to offer the care and services to those who will need it in the future. Without continuous fund raising this could be compromised so I would really appreciate your support with sponsorship please - I would love to smash the target if we can.
That's enough from me for now - time to get back to my training plan!!
