Brain Tumour Research Verified by JustGiving
RCN 1153487 (England & Wales), SC046840 (Scotland)
Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer. Just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this disease. We are a leading voice calling for support and action for research into what is called the last battleground against cancer.

Story

The gorilla has had a simply marvellous time on his piano during lockdown, and he is ENORMOUSLY grateful to all viewers :-) A few stats just for fun:

  • Total video length: 7 hours 40 minutes
  • Total prep time (estimated): 325 hours
  • Total performances: 150 (17 March - 21 August with a week's holiday)
  • Total performances by type: TV/radio/game theme: 47; Pop: 42; Jazz / blues: 28; Classical: 20; Film theme: 8; Regional medley: 5
  • New pieces of sheet music (in new purple ringbinder): 45
  • New chord charts (ditto): 16
  • Number of outfits: 2
  • Number of gorilla suit washes: 4 or 5 :-)
  • Number of fingers/thumbs used: 10
  • Number of toes used: 0
  • Number of A4 sheets of paper used: dread to think!
  • Number of black Sharpies used: 3
  • Number of requests (at least those I wrote down): 161
  • Longest video: London/Cockney medley
  • Most watched video: Don’t Stop Me Now - Queen
  • Most bizarre Facebook auto-categorisation: Take Five - Dave Brubeck (“Animals & Pets”)

For those who would like to thank the gorilla in this manner, the charity Brain Tumour Research is very significant for our family as both my elder brother Richard and brother-in-law Simon died of brain tumours.

Brain tumours are the leading cause of cancer death in children and in adults under 40 - yet brain tumour research receives less than 1% of national cancer funding. Charities of course have been impacted across the board this year, so all contributions most welcome (though do not feel at all obliged).

Thank you!! xx
