Story
Life is a milestone but some are bigger than others.
When I reached the ripe old age of 60, I said i was going to run a marathon.
There are lots of Marathons I could have chosen, but a number of my friends told me how special the London Marathon is.
Over 250,000 people apply each year and guess what, my original application was rejected. But I had one last chance when my running club received and place and in a draw in November, I was invited to take up the club's place.
This is a proud moment for me and I am determined not to let anyone down.
The training is going to be hard, but nothing compared to some of the illnesses and conditions many others have. They can only dream of running a Marathon, so I am going to raise some cash for charity.
I have, both as an individual and through my company, been involved for several years with the Butterwick Hospice, a charity in Teesside, which plays such an important part in so many people's lives.
As a charity, they rely on donations so it is my intention to raise as much as I can for this worthwhile cause.
I know there are lots of similar charities all deserving support but if you can spart a few pounds, it would be greatly appreciated.
