Reading Half Marathon 2022 · 3 April 2022 ·

In their 150th year, Reading FC have secured 150 places in the Reading Half Marathon for loyal Royal's fans who want to take part an raise vital funds to support local young people's mental health!

Story

The last 18 months has been hard on us all. Most of all for young people, having their lives suddenly disrupted by COVID - be it not seeing friends and family, not being able to attend school or any social events, or starting out in life and careers - being a young person trying to find your way in life can be a scary place on its own, let alone in the situation we find ourselves in. Anyone of them can be struggling, it may be your own child, your friends child, or anyone. I feel strongly that any young person that maybe feels they have no one to talk to HAS someone to talk to in times of need. Having that line of support may be the difference to kids struggling to cope and to keep them on the straight and narrow path. So I'm rising to this challenge to raise money for this worthy cause and I ask that you all support me in this! I have ran a Half Marathon before, and its bloody hard work and something I vowed never to repeat - but here I am! This happens to be the chosen charity of my team, Reading FC - who are proud to support all good causes in the community and I am equally as proud to be running for them as part of their 150th centenary celebrations.

No5 Young People is a charity which provides counselling and preventative outreach mental health services to children and young people aged 11 and 25 years who live, work or study within the RG postcode area. The charity delivers open access, self-referral services to any child or young person who contacts them, aiming to offer help at the very earliest point of asking intervening when issues first arise and supporting young people at the first time of asking to prevent those struggles or difficulties escalating.

Thank you all in advance!
