Story
Hi and welcome to my fundraising page.
I decided to climb Mt Kilimanjaro for New Ways in October this year. Mt Kilimanjaro is almost 6000m high and the climb took seven days to complete, stopping for only one rest day ahead of the final push for the summit. The route took us from the tropical low altitude to artic climatic zones, camping each night.
The point of the trip (beyond the personal challenge) was to raise money for one of the projects managed by New Ways, a UK registered charity. New Ways has been working since 1994 to support health, education, water and agricultural development projects in Africa and Latin America, mainly for very young children and young adults.
The funds I raise through sponsorship will go towards replacing a vehicle used as a mobile health clinic. The mobile health clinic will serve the people in the remote area of Turkana in Northern Kenya. It will provide a range of healthcare services including attending medical emergencies, immunising the under 5's, providing antenatal and postnatal care, treating chronic illness such as TB and providing homebasd care for HIV/AIDS patients. The mobile team will also provide health education programmes. The cost of the vehicle and the first 18 months running costs amount to £100,000.
For me it has been a privilege to be able to help New Ways in the work they are doing and it would be great if you could also be a part of this initiative by sponsoring me.
I'd be very grateful for any donation you can make. Every pound helps ...a £50 donation, raises £14 in Gift Aid and supplements totalling £64 for New Ways.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me for this endevour: New Ways gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Thanks for your generosity and support.
