We support kidney patients to ensure no one faces kidney disease alone

Story

On Sunday 21st October 2018 we will be returning to the Great South Run to raise money and awareness for Kidney Care UK in memory of our big sister Amy, who sadly lost her battle with kidney disease in October 2016.

"The Twits and Lil' Bro" (as Amy called us) will be returning with our Dad, Colin Alexander and we will be pulling the old man around the 10 mile course with us.

As he is new to the running game to help us with this mission we have recruited the long legs of Steve Smale, the coaching skills of former PE teacher Mark Jackson and one of dads former bosses Robin Jarman.

This will become a battle of the over 60's versus the just into our 30's as we follow in Amy's footsteps where she completed the 2008 race in 1 hour 58 minutes!

The gauntlet has been laid... =)

This race will mark the 2nd anniversary since we lost Amy and it seems a fitting tribute to mark the life of someone who gave so much of herself to raise awareness and money for others in her situation despite being so incredibly unwell.

She has always made us proud and we hope to do the same with round two of the Great South Run.

Last year we were incredibly thankful to everyone who sponsored us and helped us raise over £2500!

We understand that people cannot give every year and also have their own charities that they hold dear to their hearts, but if you feel able to support us and make a donation (no matter how small) we would be very grateful.

About Kidney Care UK

Kidney Care UK provides support, advice and counselling, as well as financial help for kidney patients and their families. Money raised through the charity also helps fund improvements to renal research, services, equipment and specialist staff. They receive no government funding and rely solely on charitable donations.

This is a worthwhile charity that makes a very real difference, not only to a kidney patient but for their family also.

> Be inspired to talk and register your organ donation wishes

It only takes two minutes to register to save lives, but it is important to tell your family you have done so. Don’t leave it too late to talk about organ donation. Many people don’t realise that their family’s support is needed for organ donation to go ahead. Be inspired to talk. Please visit https://www.organdonation.nhs.uk/supporting-my-decision/
