Story
Dear all,
I will be running the Luxembourg night marathon at the end of May - and I hear
you coming - yes, Luxembourg is big enough to hold a marathon! As you know, I
am not a sporty person at all and the training has been quite challenging... So
whether or not I will finish it before the sun rise, it's all for a good cause
and that's where I would truly need your help and support.
Tanzanear is a UK charity dedicated to helping deaf people in Tanzania lead richer and more fulfilling lives. Deafness can impose considerable social and economic burdens on individuals and their families and communities. Hearing impairments may delay the development of language and cognitive skills, resulting in learning difficulties for school pupils; for adults, the disabilities associated with deafness can make it difficult to find and keep employment. These burdens tend to fall disproportionately on the poor, because they are less able to obtain preventive and routine care, or treatment to make the condition manageable.
In order to help these individuals, Tanzanear is closely working with two organisations: the Buguruni School for the Deaf, a primary School and UMIVITA, a small NGO run by young deaf adults, which provides advocacy and support services to deaf people in Dar es Salaam. The aim is for the school to become a centre of excellence for deaf education in Tanzania, eventually promoting education to reduce cases of acquired deafness, which affects many current pupils at the school.

Thanks a lot in advance for your support and kind donations !
