Story

My fundraising challenge is to survive for as long as possible (day and night) on a raised platform (8' x 8') located at the Knights Ivy Mill Garden Centre (Godstone, Surrey) while dressed as a giant "hairy" fairy.  Depending upon the severity of the weather, I have set myself the target of lasting out for seven days and seven nights starting at 9.30am on Tuesday 7th December. I will not be allowed to come down for any reason. If I do, the challenge will end immediately. I will be provided with a chemical toilet, and a small waterproof shelter for sleeping in. The whole challenge can be watched live 24/7 via the following web-cam link: www.plantandlife.com and you can see some additional pictures on our Facebook page: facebook.com/KnightsGardenCentre

My purpose is to raise funds for our local hospice service which is provided by St. Catherine's Hospice based in Crawley. The wonderful professional and caring work undertaken by St. Catherine's Hospice is very much dependent upon the generosity of people like you and me. Without regular donations, they would simply not be able to provide the full range of community and hospice-based care that the people of East Surrey and mid-Sussex currently enjoy. Also, we shouldn't forget that it was St. Catherine's Hospice which stepped in 18 months ago when one of the large national cancer charities suddenly pulled out of East Surrey leaving vulnerable cancer patients and their families with no safety net of care. In doing this, St. Catherine's Hospice took a massive leap of faith, one which has greatly stretched their resources. Now it is time for us to give something back to them to say "thank you." As I undertake my challenge in what will probably be freezing temperatures, please donate something to them, however great or small that donation may be. Every single penny counts, and it will make my frostbite worth it!

If you are passing Godstone, then please drop in and say "hello"!
