Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page in memory of my nephew George.

After finally recovering from the London Triathlon in 2018 (also raising money for Homerton Hope), and finally forgetting the pain that it caused, I am taking on this new challenge! As you all know, or can see, I am not built for long distance running so this could very well be the last event I do!

Any donations for the Homerton Hope program would be amazing and greatly appreciate.

From George's parents Jenna & Clark:

On May 7th 2013, our baby George was born prematurely at 25 Weeks. I was rushed into Hackney Hospital with very little time on our hands and our baby George was born fighting for his life weighing 2lb 2 ounces. He was placed in an incubator in NICU where he began his fight.

Minutes seemed like hours and hours seemed liked days, with a roller coaster of information from the doctors about George's health. The nurses and doctors were very patient with us, as we had never been in an environment like this before - with all the beeps and alarms going off around us and different equipment and terminology.

George's health began to deteriorate and sadly he passed away on the 27th of May leaving Clark and myself heartbroken.

Despite George passing away, the hospital provided us with the on-going support and advice that we desperately needed. Amazingly a year later, Homerton helped us to deliver a healthy and beautiful baby boy, Harry.

As every parent knows preparing for your new born to enter the world is scary enough. Having a child born prematurely with the high possibility of many health issues and their future unknown brings endless worries and concern. With the biggest thanks to Homerton Hospital's "Homerton Hope" we were given the best support around us ensuring we were not struggling on our own and there was Hope for the future.

So far we have raised over £10,000 & this money has gone towards buying various equipment in the Intensive care units and to help pay towards Nurse training at Homerton.

In loving memory of George, we aim to raise more money again this year. On behalf of Homerton Hospital, future families, Clark and I would like to thank you all in advance. His Greatest Gift he leaves us with is by giving Hope to other Premature babies like himself.
