Each year Halsall chooses one charity to raise money for; this year’s chosen charity is the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Around seven young people aged between 13 and 24 are diagnosed with cancer every day in the UK. They need expert treatment and support from the moment they hear the word ‘cancer.’ Teenage Cancer Trust is the only charity dedicated to making this happen.

The charity is especially close to the heart of one member of our team – Ian Woodward. Ian’s son Thomas was diagnosed with Hodgkin Lymphoma; cancer of the lymphatic system when he was just 17 years old.

“When this happened, this was something that as a parent you hope you never have to deal with. Thomas’s reaction was ‘this is just a blip in my life and I have to get over it’. For someone so young to have this attitude was remarkable.”

We are incredibly pleased that Thomas has now been in remission since December 2014 after having an intense period of chemotherapy.

Over the next 12 months we will be trying to raise as much money as possible as a team to help fund the fantastic work the charity does for young teenagers like Thomas diagnosed with cancer. We will be completing a range of fundraising activities from cake sales to more extreme running and cycling challenges and we need your support.
