We pioneer life-saving cancer research to help us beat cancer
Story
Thanks for taking the
time to visit our JustGiving page
As most of you know, this
time last year I was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer. At 30
years old with no family history of breast cancer I think it's fair to say it
came as quite a shock! However, after surgery, chemotherapy, radiation
and lots of love and support I am now feeling sparkly again.
It is only in the last
few years that professionals studying breast cancer have concluded that breast
cancer is not one disease, but many different forms of cancer. Depending on its
stage of diagnosis, triple negative breast cancer can be extremely aggressive
and more likely to recur and metastasize than other subtypes of breast cancer.
It typically is responsive to chemotherapy, although it can be more difficult
to treat because it is unresponsive to the most effective receptor targeted
treatments.
Triple Negative Breast Cancer affects mainly younger
women between the age of 25 and 39. (For more info on TNBC please go to
www.tnbcfoundation.org)
Cancer Research UK has a number of trials
underway which are aimed at trying to find a targeted treatment specifically for Triple
Negative Breast Cancer. With your help, we will hopefully find a treatment and
you never know, maybe we will find a cure.
Over the past year lots of our friends and families have raised money and
awareness of tnbc and we are now ready to get involved ourselves. Adam is
going to run the full Singapore Marathon and I am going (to try) to run the
half Marathon along with some of our friends.
We would be very grateful
for your support, so please dig deep and donate now.
Many Thanks
Hannah and Adam
