London Landmarks Half Marathon 2018 · 25 March 2018 ·
In both a professional and personal capacity I have seen first hand how important the work hospices provide is, not only to its patients but also to their families and friends.
Loosing my mum to cancer was the hardest and most difficult thing I have ever had to go through. There is no possible way for anyone to prepare themselves for the prospect of loosing their mum: the reality is both unbearable and unthinkable. My mum was not only my mum, she was also my best friend and the person I was closest to. She was kind, thoughtful and always put others before herself - right until the end she never stopped trying to be my mum and protect me from the onset of what she couldn’t control.
Despite it being the darkest time of my life, there was some light in the form of the hospice. The care the hospice provided my mum with, enables me to look back on that time and know that she was given not only the care she needed but also the best care that she deserved.
My past experiences motivated me to work for the hospice in my attempt to give something back by working for a cause I was passionate and believed in.
It is for this reason that on Sunday 25 March I am taking on the challenge of running my first half marathon in order to help raise funds for St Catherine’s Hospice to ensure that more people are given the chance to receive the same vital care.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and my half marathon journey. If you are able to hit the donate button and support this great cause, thank you so much for your generosity. Your money will enable St Catherine’s to continue the vital care it provides to its patients when life comes full circle.
