Story

I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis when I was 7 years old. Between the age of 7 and 15 I would have pretty bad flare ups every couple of years or so. I was hospitalised at 15 when medications weren't working and finally it was infliximab treatment that sent me into a 10 year remission. No symptoms for 10 years! Then at the end of 2017 I started experiencing symptoms again and had the worst flare up of my life. I was in hospital for 4 weeks and this time around no medication worked. On 14th January I had emergency surgery to remove my large bowel and give me a stoma. I'm still in recovery and it just goes to show how unpredictable this disease is and how it can creep out of nowhere and completely change your life.

On Saturday 9th June myself and my parents (who were there for me everyday whilst I was in hospital) are joining others for WALK IT.

I'm raising money for Crohn's and Colitis UK to support the great work they do in raising awareness around IBD and supporting people living with chronic illness.
