We pioneer life-saving cancer research to help us beat cancer

Story

I'm walking the Shine Marathon as a tribute to my wonderful Fairy Godmother Sara who has terminal mesothelioma. It's 26 miles on the 28th of September - at night. My friends Sarah J and Ed have also signed up to walk this with me.

I lived with my Fairy Godmother Sara for a year and she is a huge personality, full of amazing anecdotes, lots of love and huge amounts of pozzazz. The Shine nighttime walking marathon seems to fit her glittery personality. I may track down some portable fairy lights and wings before I go.

I've had the honour to work at Cancer Research UK for 2 months as a temp and I've been astounded and humbled finding out the breadth and depth of their work, and I want to give something back.

Cancer Research UK works entirely on donations and their pioneering research has helped completely change the outcomes for some cancers - 98% of people survive malignant melanoma and testicular cancer now. Other cancers, however, need much more research.

As you can see from the picture I'm not of an athletic build, but I've been training hard for the last month and put on a further 7lbs of muscle.

I will be hauling my 14 stone 7 lb arse 26 miles to raise money for Cancer Research. That's gotta be worth a raised eyebrow and a small donation.

Please give whatever you can.

Many, many thanks,

Hannah
