Great Eastern Run 2011 · 9 October 2011 ·

We support people diagnosed with BBS, their parents, carers, and siblings as well as professionals involved in all aspects of the care and support of people with BBS in the UK. We are a user-led organisation, represented by adults with Bardet-Biedl Syndrome (BBS) and parents of children with BBS.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have decided to enter the Great Eastern Run and have chosen the charity of LMBBS.  My work colleague's daughter has Bardet Biedl Syndrome (BBS) and she is only 9 years old and this syndrome has already had a huge impact on her life.

This is a rare genetic disorder, which can include visual impairment usually leading to blindness, kidney disease, obesity, learning difficulties and many other problems.  This little girl is now registered blind due to her reduced visual field and has night blindness.  She has to have cane training to help her mobility in dusk/dark evenings and will from now on have to have her kidneys regularly monitored to ensure they are healthy.

The society is run by volunteers and relies on donations and fundraising to keep going with their vital work to help families who are affected by this syndrome.

Thanks for your support.
