Brighton Half Marathon 2019 · 24 February 2019 ·

It's our 25th anniversary being Brighton & Hove's only domestic abuse charity. So you're joining us on a special year - as part of team RISE 25 - and as a Charity Partner with the Brighton Half Marathon!

Story

I am a keen runner but only an amateur so this is a huge personal challenge for me to complete a half marathon. I have challenged myself in the past with midnight walks through the night of 20 miles each for three consecutive years and successfully completed the national three peaks within 24 hours. I wanted to have a new challenge and for some reason this sprang to mind. I wanted to do the run for the obvious physical benefits along with keeping myself in check mentally as well especially over the winter months.

Rise are a fantastic charity and I thought challenging myself personally was important but at the same time being able to raise money for a good cause. Please donate anything that you are able to. I really appreciate it.

A child who witnesses domestic abuse can suffer tremendously. Often they think it may be their fault, they modify their behaviour, become shy or aggressive or suffer mental health problems. At RISE we provide counselling for these children, helping them to work through the emotions that a domestic abuse situation in their family has triggered. Just £40 could pay for a counsellor to work with a child for an hour. Can you raise funds to help us reach out to even more people across Brighton& Hove and East and West Sussex?
