Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In February 2013 I will be climbing Mt Kilimanjaro (yes you heard right) to raise money to support victims of domestic violence for the charity Victim Support. I work for Victim Support as a Hate Crime Caseworker and can vouch for the incredible work they do.
Domestic violence is both criminal and socially unacceptable. It ruins lives, breaks up families, affects society and has a lasting impact:
- - Women experience an average of 35 incidents of domestic abuse before reporting an incident to the police (Yearnshaw 1997)
- - One in four women and one in six men experience domestic violence in their lifetime.
- - At least 750,000 children a year witness Domestic violence (Doh – 2002 – Womens Mental Health).
I have always wanted to climb Kilimanjaro having been inspired by my Granddad who climbed it 52 years ago and now I have my reason to get to the top...please help us raise awareness and the funds to continue to provide this support..dig deep and donate now.
(Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.)
Thank you :)
