We organise disaster relief worldwide to be there for people in desperate need

Story

Highwood Primary School is part of the Schools Learning Alliance (SLA), which is a groups of schools working together to improve outcomes for pupils and to develop teacher expertise.

Currently, these schools are working together to raise funds for the appalling disaster affecting India at the moment.  We have all experienced the devastation and panic that the coronavirus has brought to our communities so can understand how frightening life is in India today.

During the week starting 17th May, each school in the SLA will hold cricket themed events.  In Highwood Primary School, each class will
use their PE lessons to hone their cricket skills with bowling, batting,
catching and throwing activities, for which they will all score points.  We would like to use these points as a target for donations to the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) who are co-ordinating
a response to the crisis in India by providing medical supplies, treatment facilities and logisitics support to overwhelmed health services.  For more information on the support that DEC is providing please see their website https://www.dec.org.uk/.

We are aiming as a school for over 10,000 points which, at 10p per point, equates to a target of £1,000 for our school community to raise in donations.  We do understand that the coronavirus has had a detrimental impact on many families here too so just ask that you donate what you can at this time to help those suffering now.  Thank you for your generosity.
