We needed help, and our supporters responded. COVID has impacted our businesses and care services, but we can now start to look to the future with confidence to continue our charitable work, supporting people with learning disabilities.

Story

Hello my name is Hugo and this year in 2022, I have set myself the challenge of running the ABP Southampton half marathon in May and the New Forest Garmin Marathon in September. As part of this, I am trying to  raise money for Minstead Trust, a charity that supports the lives of adults with learning difficulties and helping them to become more independent. This is a charity that I feel very passionate about as I have had the privilege of working with many of the residents from the trust as part of my job helping to teach drama at Hanger Farm Arts Centre, which many of the residents from Minstead attend. During my time working with the groups that attend the sessions many of them have expressed their worries and anxieties about not being able to see their family and friends during the COVID19 lockdown. From what I have heard from the Minstead residents themselves, COVID19 has limited the amount of support that they are able to receive and the amount of interaction they are allowed to have with those they care deeply about . Hearing this, I have decided to make it my mission to be able to raise as much money as I can for the trust, to support it during this very difficult time. I will be running the ABP Southampton half marathon on the 24th of April and the New Forest full Marathon on the 11th of September. Any donations would be more than appreciated, no matter how big or small! My target is to raise £1,000. Should you decide to help, then I cannot thank you enough! It is a pleasure to have your support  in this!
