Story

More than a million people have fled Ukraine to escape heavy fighting, shelling and air strikes, leaving loved ones behind and escaping with only what they can carry.

Thousands more have been forced to seek refuge in basements and metro stations as civilians pay the price of Putin's invasion.

The Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC), a partnership of 15 leading UK charities is responding now. Member charities and local partners are providing food, medical care and shelter to refugees and supporting vulnerable people inside Ukraine.

But they need our help. i is partnering with the DEC to help get targeted support to those who need it.

£10 can buy essential hygiene supplies for one person for a month.

£20 can provide emergency food for one person for one month.

£50 can provide blankets to keep four families warm.

i's appeal has been supported by the UK Government, which matched pound-for-pound donations up to £20 million on the DEC's Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal. The appeal has already raised more than £100 million from generous UK contributors.
