As a dancer, I know that music and movement can do amazing things in life. Dancing can be the only thing that lightens up a smile on a bad day. If it wasn't for music and dancing I will not be as half alive and happy as I am today! This is the reason why I want to spread dancing to bring joy to children living in war and conflict. 

Many children and youth in conflict and war zones might receive basic needs like food and shelter, but have difficulties in believing in a better future as they face daily violence and trauma. Those are in need of a break from pain, and burdens such as depression, anxiety and stress. 

I believe capoeira can be the means to bring happiness and psychological freedom, and therefore call you to support Capoeira4Refugees.

Capoeira4Refugees (C4R) works with children and youth affected by violence and human rights abuses in all over the world such as Syria, Lebanon and Congo. In Al Raqqa (Syria), the local trainers keep running classes despite the presence of ISIS. 

Many have seen the psychosocial impact of capoeira as it works as a treatment for trauma. For me, it makes so much sense, because music also works as a therapy, while training creates self-control and discipline, which again reduces aggression. More importantly, increased happiness creates hopes and dreams. For children growing up in conflict areas, hope is essential to believe that tomorrow will be better.
