On Sunday 21st August I'll be taking part in the 'Ironman UK' full-distance triathlon at Sherborne Castle in Dorset.
This entails a 2.4-mile swim followed by a 112-mile bike ride and a 26.2-mile marathon run.
The Rotary-IronmanUK partnership is supporting several principal charities for this event - I have chosen to raise money for the Jane Tomlinson Appeal.
Jane's Appeal benefits four charities chosen by Jane and her family - SPARKS, Macmillan Cancer Relief, Hannah House and The Paediatric Acute Services at Leeds Teaching Hospital.
Please visit www.janesappeal.com for more details.
The event should take me around 13-14 hours to complete, and I'm told by Ironman veterans that I will find the going 'a little tough', especially during the last 20 miles!
My considerable & inevitable pain will be immensely easier to bear with the knowledge that your generous support is helping me to raise money for a tremendously worthy cause.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure.
If you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Many thanks in anticipation of your support.
Cheers,
Steve.
