Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Hello!
My name is Isla. I’m 11 years old and have a little brother,
Ayrton, who will be 3 in this month. In
May 2020 he was diagnosed with Kleefstra Syndrome, a very rare chromosome
disorder which means he’s very delayed in his development so needs lots of
extra help and care!
In January he started Preschool at Challengers, Stoke Park
Guildford. He is very happy there and has developed so much in their care that
I have been inspired to do some fundraising for them!
Not only does Challengers run a Preschool for disabled and
non-disabled children but also Play- schemes and Youth schemes for
disabled children aged 2-18 across the South East. This helps disabled children
to develop vital social, coordination and communication skills whilst having
fun, all in preparation for adult life! Their services also give parents and
families a much needed break as caring for them can be very exhausting.
They are in urgent need of new playground equipment since
the last has become too unsafe to use and they had to take it down. Due to the
COVID – 19 situation they have been unable to carry out their normal
fundraising events putting them under considerable financial strain. With the
help of my cousin Orla, age 14, we are aiming to raise £1,000 towards this much
needed equipment.
We have set ourselves the challenge of a mini triathlon, in
which each of us will complete:
- Five laps jogging around a large green (4,000meters)
- Another five laps cycling plus the ride home
- Twenty laps swimming around a 15 ft pool
All will be completed with no breaks (on our practice laps,
just swimming twenty laps wore me out!)
We would appreciate any donation however small to help
Challengers give the children the best experience possible!
Thank you for your kind support
Isla & Orla
