Join the Great North Run 2023 and raise money to support essential grants for families raising disabled and seriously ill children by running in the worlds largest half marathon.

Story

This year, I have decided to run the Great North Run for Family Fund. Working for Family Fund, I have seen firsthand the amazing work they do for families raising disabled or seriously ill children and young people. They help the families who need the help the most and raising some money for them by lacing up my trainers is the least I can do.

Over the summer of 2022, I ran 100kms for Family Fund, because of this I found a real love for running (I am as shocked as you are!) and I thought why not keep the ball rolling (or my feet moving) and clock up some more miles in aid of this brilliant charity.

This will be a massive challenge for me, the furthest I have run ever to date has been 6 miles and for the GNR I'll have to double that distance over quite a hilly route! (yikes!) However the struggle I will face to run this race on the day is nothing compared to that faced by the families raising disabled children on a day to day basis. I know times are tough and I understand it is a big ask, but if you can give anything at all I will be so grateful, and please know the huge difference every penny makes to the families that Family Fund support.

Family Fund is the UK’s largest charity providing grants for families raising disabled or seriously ill children and young people. Every day, families tell us how this support has a huge impact on their lives, but we want to make an even bigger difference to even more families. Last year, we provided over 150,000 grants or services across the UK.
