Hello, welcome and peace

This year for the first time, we, the guys at the University of  Manchester Islamic Society have decided to do something really benificial..

May the 20th marks the Great Manchester Run, a 10km spirited stretch through the heart of Manchester .  We have sixteen runners in total and nine of us are running to raise money in aid of the Darfur Crisis Appeal, with Human Appeal International (www.hai.org.uk).

Why Darfur ?

Darfur is facing a tragic crisis.  Situated in the Western region of Sudan, the current plight has been named by the UN as the “world’s worst humanitarian crisis”.  Total and utter devastation has reigned since internal conflict began.  Over 2.5 million have been displaced, and the most part struggle without basic medical provision, food and clean water. 

The situation is critical.  Your donations, in aid of the Human Appeal International charity, will directly help support

- an emergency field hospital in the Galdy village serving 16,000 people, providing basic medical care

- the provision of essential food items such as flour, corn, peas, rice, oil and sugar to families

- the provision of safe, clean water.
