Story
I will be taking part in CHSW Ride for Precious Lives 2024 along with my best mate Jack. I (Shane) took part in last year's RFPL & it was an amazing weekend full of emotion & beautiful scenery! I went one way so it's only right I go the other way!
Team Evie!
Evie was born 5 weeks early with a rare chromosome deletion, through the deletion Evie has been diagnosed with lots of conditions but the one thing that hasn't change is her fighting spirit!
Children's Hospice Southwest came into Evie's & her families lives a few years ago, when Evie was going through treatment for her chronic kidney disease & become very ill. Evie needs 24 hour care. The hospice stepped in to give the family a break, for her parents to have a safe space to talk & spend much needed family time together, that so many take for granted, Evie's older sister had a space to play safely with her younger sister but also time spend with her parents that can become hard to do when you have a child with such medical and learning complexities. She also had a safe space to talk openly about her worries & be totally herself..
The hospice is a vital part of the families lives, be that speaking to other families that are under the hospice care, speaking to someone if they are worried or just need someone to listen. The sibling team are there to help navigate ways of being a sibling of complex child & in some cases a young carer themselves. It's not something any family thinks they will need & it can be such a daunting conversation to have but for Evie's family those worries have gone & have been replaced with a sense of hope & love.
This is why the family want to give back as a Thank You. While Childrens Hospice SouthWest hold the family in the good, the bad & in sad times, they as a family will do their best to help make sure Childrens Hospice SouthWest will still be there when & if other families call upon them!
Thanks for reading about 'Evie's Team' & hope you can support us in anyway you can!! 🤘🏻
