Story

Well - we did it in a modest 2hr 10mins 27sec!!!

For raffle winners - see bottom.

A sincere thank you to you for visiting our fundraising page!!

I started running last year after a woman I had worked with said that she did not start running until she was 50 years young.  That spurred me in to giving it a bash.  At first I would gasp for breath and felt I had won a watch if I made it between lamposts without stopping!!  I persevered though and trained little and often in all weathers.  Not long after Davy caught the running bug and we were so proud of ourselves for finishing the Glasgow 10K at a reasonable time of 55 mins 44 seconds.  Not bad for first time runners!!

Especially since we have had 8 kids along the way!! Well not quite literally I may add!!! Well  to be exact 10 pregnancies all in and... no not even a twin among them.  Four boys & four girls ranging from 2 yrs to 20 yrs.

Sadly, however, number 5  daughter Christianna was struck down with a rare illness at the age of 6 and has been confined to a wheelchair since then.  Her condition is so rare that there is no name for it - she has baffled the medical profession.  It has not stopped her smiling though as you an see from her picture.

Christianna is a lovely girl who has accepted her illness gracefully.  She waited a long time to get a place in an Arts & Crafts club run by Capability Scotland.  Christianna loves Tuesday nights when the club takes place and always comes in chatting happily about the other children and the volunteers.

Myself &  my husband Davy have seen the personal benefits that these clubs can bring to the children & their families.  We would love to put a smile on other childrens faces through the hard work, dedication and sincerity that Capability Scotland offer and you can help us to do just that.  So please be generous and sponsor us for this special event.

A final note to say that this will indeed be a challenge as I was diagnosed with a connective tissue disorder last year but I am determined to keep my training up.  More so now to raise money for a cause which is close to all our hearts.

Please dig deep and sponsor us online.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Capability Scotland will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor us now!

Many thanks for your support.

P.S I ran the Glasgow Women's 10k recently in 50mins 36seconds!!  I train in all weathers as I was determined last year not to let my fitness level slip.  Just now I run between 25-30 miles per week. Every Thursday I run 11 miles with short 10k runs in between.  I have never pushed my body beyond that. Davy is a more confident natural runner who can go out and run long distances without much training.  However this event will most definitely be a challenge to us both.  Knowing we are pounding the pavements for such a worthwhile cause is so rewarding.
