Jack's Story: Making People Aware: Vasa Previa

Making People Aware: Vasa Previa · 31 March 2016
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Baby Jack was born via emergency caesarean after the vessels in the placenta burst. He was left without oxygen and, as a result, will face many challenges - including kidney failure and the need for a transplant. But Jack is one of the lucky ones, 95% of the babies affected by undetected Vasa Previa die.
This condition is rare, affecting 1 in 3000 women but that is still one every day. It is more likely to affect women with low lying placentas and can be diagnosed with a colour Doppler. At present, this is not part of the routine scan on the NHS. This campaign calls for women to be made aware of the condition - please share the page to make others aware. If just one mother is spared the heartbreak, it will be worth it.
Many have contacted us asking where they can forward donations so we have created this page to direct people to. However, our first fundraising event will take place at 8 o clock, on the 24th of March and will take place at The Alma, Wombwell, S73 0DE. A charity raffle will take place (contact Katie Mitchell for tickets) and more information will be available. Please come and show your support or simply spread the word.
Thank you for all your support.
