Fundraising for Phase Two of the Derwentwater School Playground Project to enhance the outside area at our school. We are aiming to raise a total of £45K - we hope to raise £10K or more from sponsored events.

Story

Jacob’s message, word for word, “I want to raise money and I want to give it to the school for the new playground and to make it safer.

I like playing outside with my friends. We have like a concrete area that we can have a run around and an area we can make mud pies. The ground is not slippy, but it’s like stones that are not properly stuck together on the top so if you fall over it really hurts.

I’d like some pretend grass like we have by the climbing frame ‘cause if you fall on that it doesn’t hurt.  Lots of people have run around and fallen over and hurt themselves; I’d like to make it safer for everyone.

Jacob will be running a 2 km Parkrun on Sunday March 17th🏃🏻‍♂️

Last year The Derwentwater School Association launched an exciting two phase playground project to enhance the outside playground area at Derwentwater Primary School. Phase one has already been completed (a new climbing frame area). Fundraising for Phase Two is now underway. This year we hope to provide a Multi Use Games Area (MUGA), a rectangular enclosure with soft surfacing and pitch markings for football, netball, hockey and basketball. We believe this will be a versatile and positive investment for our children and the wider community. We hope to raise funds through new fundraising initiatives including a sponsored run and crowdfunding. Any donation however small will help us achieve our target and help Jacob realise his wish of stopping people getting hurt.
