Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I'm
fasting for 24 hours to raise awareness and help contribute to UNICEF's
action for children living in areas affected by the Ebola virus!
The
Ebola outbreak in West Africa is the largest and deadliest the world
has ever seen. More than 4900 people have died and around 13000 are
infected across Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Nigeria. Neighbouring
countries are also at risk as the virus could quickly spread across
borders.
Right
now, children are in danger. Many are being orphaned by the disease,
schools and health facilities for pregnant women are being closed, and
vital routine immunisation programmes are halting because of the
emergency.
With the help of your donations, UNICEF can control
the disease by providing care and support services for children and
families hit by Ebola, but also protective equipment and medical
supplies to hospitals and health workers.
