Background-
The eleven days of hostilities in May 2021 in Gaza was the most serious escalation of the conflict since 2014. The bombardment from air, land and sea resulted in a significant number of injuries and casualties in the Gaza Strip. The human toll was aggravated by overall damage and losses to the social, infrastructure, and productive and financial sectors.
Furthermore, multiple water and sanitation facilities and infrastructure were also damaged throughout the escalation last year adding of the existing water crisis in Gaza, with clean water increasingly scarce and almost a third of households not connected to a sanitation system. A wide range of water supply and sanitation (WSS) infrastructure across Gaza was either damaged, destroyed or unable to operate from the damages of the bombardments

- 1.1 million Palestinians in Gaza are not receiving adequate water and sanitation services
- Inadequate treatment of sewage water has resulted in increased pollution along the Gaza Shoreline
The Solution
Deliver water tanks and repairs/ replacement of generators and water pumps:
- Install standardised plastic water tanks for domestic water to replace the substandard tanks or to add to the insufficient ones
- Maintenance/Rehabilitation of in-house WASH facilities (including toilets, kitchen and bathing facilities).
- Increase storage capacity and access to sufficient quantity of water for drinking, cooking, and personal and domestic hygiene.
- Promote Hygiene Practices through awareness and distribution of sanitary supplies and hygiene materials.
