Hi everyone,

As I'm sure you know by now (I have certainly bored you all to tears by incessantly going on about it) on August 4th I will be taking part in the UK Ironman in Bolton. For those that might be unaware of what an Ironman is, it is a 140.6 mile triathlon consisting of a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride and a 26.2 mile marathon run to finish. Oh, and this has to all be completed within 17 hours of the 6am start, with various cut off times for each discipline. Further information about the event can be found at: www.ironmanuk.com

I do know and fully appreciate that money is tight for everyone at the moment so that is why I have decided to undertake this challenge which is so unbelievably far from my comfort zone (just getting up at 3am on the day of the event will be a huge challenge): I have been learning to swim 'properly' only since October 2012 and could then barely swim 20 metres without stopping and gasping for breath, so to think of swimming 2.4 miles is incredibly daunting to me. Please let me assure you that any donation, no matter what, will be so gratefully appreciated and will be used so well.

Baby Lifeline is such an amazing charity that works tirelessly to give premature babies a better chance of survival, and although (thanks to the amazing effort the charity does) the number of premature babies surviving is increasing, there is still so much that can be done to prevent more families going through the heartbreak of losing their child at birth.
