This September, Georgia and I will be running the Bristol half marathon in aid of mind, the mental health charity.

Mind does incredible work supporting, educating and fostering greater awareness and acceptance of mental health issues.

As many of you will know this is an issue extremely close to my heart. For the past 8 years, my sister Georgia has been in and out of hospital battling with an eating disorder. Since coming out of hospital in 2017, to have reached the stage where now, she is running this half marathon with me, I could not be more proud of how hard she has worked and how far she has come.

However, Mental health problems such as depression and anxiety continue to deeply affect many people closest to me. At present, 1 in 4 people will experience mental health problems in any given year. Problems which all too frequently go unnoticed, undiagnosed and unaddressed amongst university students. The work mind does in creating awareness aims to reduce the stigma of mental health. This, coupled with greater support is so important in assisting the many young adults currently suffering in silence from mental health conditions.
